PPPA – WEEKLY EMAIL BLAST

In this week's blast:

      PPPA'S NEW VICE PRESIDENT

Allow me to introduce myself..... I am Steve Lutz and I am your new PPPA Vice President. I had a 30-year career with Colorado Springs Utilities but started out working for Colorado Springs Parks and Recreation Forestry Division.  My professional experience will help me in this PPPA role since coordinating with the city of Colorado Springs is part of the Vice President's duties.

I played my first game of pickleball when the Monument Valley Park courts had their opening ceremony, and it has become a very important part of my life. To me pickleball is the three F’s - Fun, Fitness & Friends! I would like to thank all the many, many people who have volunteered their time to help make this organization so successful!

    Sincerely,

    Steve Lutz

RELOCATION OF THE PADDLES UP TROUGH AT MONUMENT VALLEY PARK COURTS

    Hello everyone,

This Special Blast is to inform you that the Paddles Up Trough at the MVP Courts has been relocated to the east side of the courts in the tournament operations area near the flagpole.  This was done due to the wet and muddy conditions of their standard location on the west side under the trees.  Please note that once the weather changes and we have sunny and hot conditions, the trough will be returned to the area on the west side under the trees for shade.

PPPA BOARD MEMBERS ATTENDED THE FRIENDS OF MONUMENT VALLEY PARK ANNUAL MEETING

PPPA Board Members attended the Friends of Monument Valley Park Annual meeting featuring Ms. Britt Haley, the new Director of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services as the guest speaker. Ms. Haley highlighted the upcoming resurfacing of the Monument Valley Park Pickleball Facility. The resurfacing will be completed by Renner Sports Services, the premier court builders in the country. They also built the Bear Creek Park courts so we can expect a top notch job. The cost of the resurfacing is $62,530 and will begin on 19 June 2023 and end on approximately 30 June 2023. The facility will be closed during the resurfacing.

She also announced that they have hired 4 new Park Rangers who will be policing the park, to better protect and prevent some of the recent acts of violence and vandalism that have occurred at the park. PPPA will be replacing the broken and cracked sections of the fence toppers around the courts as the resurfacing takes place. These improvements, along with the addition of the bottom fence rails around each court will make MVP a premier facility that we can all be proud of due to our continued partnership with our Parks Department. A partnership that is unique and highly sought after by organizations around the country.
