PIKES PEAK PICKLEBALL ASSOCIATION'S TWO OLDEST MEMBERS

The Pikes Peak Pickleball Association is lucky to have TWO nonagenarians as members.  Mr. Bob Holman is PPPA's oldest member, born February 8, 1931.  Mr. Charles Rush is also 92 years old and was born December 25, 1931.

Mr. Holman discovered pickleball in 2010 while riding his bike past the MVP courts, and welcomed the sport as a replacement for tennis.  Bob was a member of a small group that formed PPPA and began soliciting for new designated pickleball courts.  In 2017, he lost his balance on the court, which began his introduction to Parkinson’s Disease, being officially diagnosed in 2022.  He has not played since, but sincerely misses it.  Bob wrote, “But that is the price one has to pay at 92 years old, I guess.”

Mr. Rush learned pickleball in Tucson, Arizona about 2011 and started playing in Colorado Springs that year.  He was elected Vice President of the first Pikes Peak Pickleball Association Board of Directors and he started PPPA's first Referee Training Program.

These two gentlemen do not play as much pickleball as they once did, but PPPA is proud to honor their life experience, contributions to PPPA, and longevity as members of our community.
