        PPPA DONATION FOR BEAR CREEK REGIONAL PARK PICKLEBALL VENUE

      As part of our PPPA mission to help reduce the financial burdens of local Government in the funding of Pickleball court development and improvements, our Association is helping the El Paso County Parks Department complete the next planned addition to the Bear Creek Regional Park Pickleball venue. This last week our PPPA Treasurer Jeff Jensen and our Vice President Steve Lutz presented a $7000 check from PPPA to the El Paso County Parks Advisory Board Chairman, Ed Hartl, along with the other members of the Advisory Board and the leadership of the EPC Parks Department.  

      This was our matching donation for a Sunshade structure that will be added at the top of the recent landscaping/stadium seating improvement at the west end of the Pickleball venue (see photos). Given the lack of shade trees around the venue, this structure will provide needed everyday sun protection for players and visitors as well as a great central overlook location for managing future pickleball tournament operations.

      For the benefit of our community, PPPA and the EPC Parks Department continue to plan for additional improvements at this important and well-utilized Pickleball venue.  Pending available future funding from the County, PPPA and other Grant organizations; improvements include additional Pickleball courts and venue lighting.  Photo Credit: PPPA Photographer Sally Jensen

        2023 COLORADO OPEN - PIKES PEAK OR BUST TOURNAMENT - AUGUST 11 - 13, 2023

      Registration is now open for the 2023 Colorado Open - Pikes Peak or Bust Tournament. 

      This is the "only" tournament that dedicates all proceeds to the City of Colorado Springs and to El Paso County to assist in funding new courts. Current new court development projects are:

       - Bear Creek Park - 6 additional pickleball courts and two tennis courts dual striped for pickleball

       - Venezia Park - 4 additional pickleball courts which are Pending Colorado Springs Parks and Recreation approval

       - Coleman Park - 18 - 20 pickleball courts that are included in the final design for the park

      Please register as soon as possible and be ready to enjoy some competitive play and a fun tournament experience!

      TOURNAMENTS


      Join us for the HOTTEST Tournament in Colorado Springs!!!

      This is a 4 person Team Tournament - 2 Guys and 2 Gals!!!

      DUPR 12 / DUPR 14 / DUPR 16 / DUPR 18

      Level of Play is Determined by the combined ratings of the 4 players.

      For example, if you are all between a 3.26 and 3.75, you would sign up for the DUPR 14, if you are all between a 3.76 abd 4.25, you would sign up for the DUPR 16 and so on. 

      COST

      The cost per person is $95 for non members and $80 for Members. The price includes either Men’s or Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles, so you will each play two events. 

      Each team will receive team shirts. When you sign up, list the names of your team mates so we can match you all up and let us know what your team’s first choice of shirt color will be. There will be 6 colors to choose from and the first teams to register will have the first choice of colors. 

      FORMAT

      • Men’s and Women’s Doubles will go first. 
      • We will have the Women playing on 3 courts and the Men playing on the other 3 courts. 
      • You will play all 5 teams and then you will have one Gold Medal Match. 
      • At the end of the Men’s/Women’s Doubles, we will have a 1 hour lunch or dinner break and a light/healthy meal will be provided. 
      • Then we will go into Mixed Doubles. 
      • Your team will be split up, one team will play in Pool 1 and the other team will play in Pool 2. 
      • There will be one play off round and a gold medal match between the 2 pools. (Team points will not be entered for Gold Medal Matches)
      • Your team will collect points from each game and we will tally up your total points - there will be a prize for the winning team of four.
