ROUND ROBIN VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION CELEBRATION
This week the PPPA Board of Directors held a celebration to honor and thank the Round Robin volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to making the PPPA Round Robin Program a reality. This program is an integral part of the PPPA that relies completely on volunteers to organize and run it. Since the round robins are spread out across two locations and 4 days, many of the volunteers were meeting each other for the first time.
Joe Johnson handed out beautiful Certificates of Appreciation to each volunteer and talked about the direction the PPPA is heading. Did you know that the RR program has grown from 630 members in February of 2022 to over 810 today? As the membership continues to grow so must the program.
The attendees discussed ways to make the program more consistent across the different levels and locations, so the RR members know what to expect as they move between groups. They reviewed a document the team of volunteers had collaborated on which outlines the duties and responsibilities of the on-site coordinators. This was well received and will continue to be adapted to meet the needs of the program.
The volunteers also discussed some of the issues they are facing. One of the primary concerns is the level of play of the members in each group and how that can be managed. Another is the need for additional round robins to accommodate the growth of the program.
The RR volunteers are a great group of people who believe in Pickleball and the program. They dedicate their time and energy to ensure that their members have the opportunity to get out there on the courts, exercise, socialize, and just have fun for a little while each week.
