The October PPPA Quarterly Board Meeting was held at Pikes Peak Library District, East Library, on October 21, 2023, at 10:15 AM. The minutes for this and previous quarterly board meetings can be found on the PPPA website at Pikes Peak Pickleball Association - Board Meeting Minutes

The next meeting is tentatively scheduled to be held on January 10, 2024.

  YOUR MEMBERSHIP MAKES A DIFFERENCE

YOUR support through annual membership dues ensures that public courts, including Monument Valley Park, Bear Creek Regional Park, John Venezia Community Park, and the newly approved Coleman Park pickleball courts are maintained, open and available to the public. 

This year, the association is experiencing a dilemma. When surveyed, many outgoing members indicate that they have chosen to spend their money at higher rate commercial pay-to-play facilities instead of continuing their memberships with PPPA.  They are, however, still frequenting community pickleball courts as much as if not more than commercial facilities because parks ‘are free’ and ‘it’s more fun to be outside’.   Unfortunately, this means much more competition and longer wait times for outdoor courts – with less funds to maintain, improve and add new courts in the community.

So, what IS the value of a PPPA membership?    

·       Members only clinics, skill-based ladders, and guided play throughout the year.
·       Members only round-robin and sponsored tournaments.
·       Members only opportunities to meet others and build a supportive community through play and special events.
·       Members only leadership, action, and volunteer opportunities.
·       Member discounts through specific sponsors.

If you’ve allowed your membership to lapse or expire in favor of commercial pay-to-play courts, we encourage you to consider both options – and help us keep outdoor play alive and growing with your continued membership in PPPA.

  LADDER PLAY — WHY?

PPPA has several recreational opportunities in addition to the Round Robin program. 

Check out these reasons why the Ladder Play program is so successful and fun. 

• MORE COMPETITIVE THAN RR — The play in Ladder is for more competitive players. Come play Ladder and bring your best game. 
  
• LADDER PLAY IS HELD YEAR-ROUND— Ladder play allows players in a 4-5 person team to select the time and place to play. You choose your best days. And you have more opportunities to play during the winter break and colder weather.
• IMPROVE YOUR SKILLS — Ladder is fun, exciting and great exercise. A great way to improve your skills with players in your own skill level. 
• FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE — Play your level, when and where you want. 
• DOUBLES LADDER — In Doubles Ladder you play with different partners for 3-4 games to maximize your skills. 
• SINGLES LADDER — You play one on one against 3-4 other players, which requires significant movement and is a great way to stay fit. I’ve found the single ladder play has helped in my regular double play. 
• SAVE $$$ — The Ladder play programs are already included in your very low yearly cost of $30.00 / year.  WHY pay more when you can have the advantages of this program for no additional cost?
