WINTER PROTOCOL FOR CITY/COUNTY COURTS
The Parks Department of Colorado Springs has announced their snow and ice procedures this year.
Effective Nov. 13th, 2023, unauthorized use of snow/ice removal methods or equipment is prohibited. During weather events, staff will assess the snow and ice levels to prioritize safety and court quality to determine when the courts will open. Please follow the status signage that will be posted in the parking lots. We appreciate your assistance as we work to protect and maintain our courts.
- Park Operations staff will close and lock the MVP/John Venezia Pickleball Courts when snow/ice are present. El Paso County will do the same at Bear Creek.
- No shovels or snow removal equipment/techniques of any kind allowed.
- Permanent signs will be posted on the gates at the courts indicating courts will be locked when snow and ice are present.
- Signs will be installed in the parking lot near the pickleball courts at Monument Valley and John Venezia Park that will provide court status. A red sign with the words “Courts Closed” and a green sign with the words “Courts Open.” A flagpole utilizing colored flags will also be installed at John Venezia utilizing the same color designation of the signs.
- Bear Creek will use its flag system – red when closed, green when open.
- Nets will be removed on courts 12 thru 15 at MVP when snow eventually dictates.
**The MVP permanent restrooms are closed for the season.
CREATIVE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
PPPA is looking for one or more volunteers to help design and manage a new online store. Individual(s) will:
- Work with PPPA IT to design a new online store page.
- Research and make recommendations for selecting an online promotional vendor (or vendors) that can provide PPPA branded items - such as T Shirts, Visors, Jackets, Bags, etc. that members actually want!
- Help manage inventory sales during annual ice cream socials and local tournaments.
- Help track inventory sales/returns for annual financial reporting.
