  INTRODUCING SHIRLEY MARQUARDT-TYNAN AND "OFF THE COURT"

Your PPPA board of directors would like to introduce you to our newest board member, Shirley Marquardt-Tynan. Shirley is a Chemical Engineer with an MBA who retired from Emerson after about 35 years. She last served as Public Relations Committee Chairperson. 

Shirley has been a member of PPPA for the last year and half. Like many of you, she started with the Beginner lessons program, then progressed to guided play and round robin. At the most recent board meeting, she expressed an interest in joining the board in a public relations and social media capacity. The Board awarded her the position of Public Relations Committee Chairperson. 

Shirley’s first area of focus is the Blast. She will be replacing it with a newsletter in March. The goal is to provide you, our members, with more information about the board, the PPPA and our members. Mark your calendars for the first installment of “Off the Court”, coming to your inboxes March 1st.

  INTRODUCING OUR NEW MEMBERSHIP DIRECTOR, CAROLYN ENGQUIST

Sharon Kumpf is changing roles here at the PPPA. She has identified and trained her perfectly qualified replacement, Carolyn Engquist, to assume the role of Membership Director in her place.  Carolyn will have the official seat on the board and the voting position. Jim Engquist, her husband, will assist by performing the clerical work.

Prior to her retirement, Carolyn pursued a career in the health and wellness industry.  Jim retired from a career in software development. They joined the PPPA in 2022. They enjoy playing pickleball and making new friends at round robins and ladder play. They have become ambassadors for the PPPA encouraging others to take up the sport and join the association.
